The Ministry of Defense has issued an order asking officers and all security personnel to uninstall over 42 Chinese apps as they have been deemed as 'spyware'. However, the order has been issued based on the inputs from intelligence agencies. The list includes popular apps like Mi Store found on all Xiaomi smartphones, We-chat which is a popular messaging app from China, Shareit which is used for file transfers and one of the most popular apps in India. According to reports, on November 24 the Intelligence Bureau (IB) in a advisory had already asked troops to delete these 42 apps like WeChat, Weibo, Uc Browser and Uc News from their smartphones or reformat their devices altogether.
